This is the first time we have been accredited on the revised B-BBEE codes, and we have managed to maintain our overall score of 78 despite the increased intricacy of these codes. This is a major achievement. On the old scoring system, we would’ve attained a level 3 rating. More relevantly, on the revised codes, 78 points translates to a level 5 rating.
To give you some perspective of where this puts us relative to other companies:
- 78 points matches us to the top 15 of JSE-listed companies that have been verified on the revised codes
What does this mean for our customers?
For every R1 spent with us, our South African customers are able to claim R0.80 towards their B-BBEE procurement spend. Ultimately, this means an improved B-BBEE score for them. Local is lekker!
What does this mean for our future?
We’re proud of this accomplishment and what it means for our industry and the country. While we pat ourselves on the back, there’s no resting on our laurels. Thanks to the steadfast dedication of our B-BBEE team, we’re already developing and refining our strategy to realise the 2017/2018 goal of level 4.
We’re strongly focussed on fulfilling the B-BBEE initiative with – among others – :
- an increased drive on learnerships for the unemployed and,
- sourcing the best suppliers to tie in with our B-BBEE goals
